It all starts with one or more photographs.  Such as this one of beautiful Samantha and Misty (pup)

I continue, stroke-by-stroke on my graphics tablet using a pressure sensitive “pen” as shown here.  Don’t be mislead, there is no “computer magic” here!  My digital work requires the same level of skill and artistic ability as did my earlier work with paint brush and canvas!  The primary advantage for me is there is no mess, no toxic smells to tolerate and no mess to clean up!  As for the quality of the final portrait...you decide for yourself.  Please visit the Portrait Gallery.

Next, I prepare a sketch of the subject(s).  The sketch is then scanned into my computer.  At that point, I begin painting.
